Awanigiizhik Bruce has apprenticed under a multitude of artists and is now engaged in teaching Indigenous art forms to their local community. Awanigiizhik gathers and sources many of their materials from nature: birchbark, silver berry seeds, porcupine and bird quills, rawhide, and earth pigments. They like to combine these natural materials with modern technology and techniques, while utilizing their knowledge of chemistry, biology, and computers and applications to develop new ideas. Pushing the boundaries of Indigenous art and exploring what is possible within the art space is part of their practice.
